When we are no longer able to change a situation, we are challenged to change ourselves.
Friends and family,
We have been on quite a journey.
I don’t think any of us can grasp how the events of the last year-and-a-half have changed each and every one of us. I have been told, many times over, that Kevin’s experience, and this situation, have made people question their biggest decisions in life. The love and sense of community that have been witnessed has been extraordinary! Thank you, everyone, for pulling together and being apart of something so special. We are all sad, but Kevin made it clear that we are to continue forward and live our lives to the fullest; let’s make him proud!
Some of you may know already, but I have decided to pack up house and put it into storage. It’s amazing how one’s essentials can actually fit into just 72 litres (and fit on your back)! I have a ticket to Australia for March 4th. I will be visiting friends all over the continent and they are sure to keep me busy. So far, some of the activities planned for the first 6 weeks include: camping, surfing, sight-seeing, sailing, renting ATVs, hiking, exploring and scuba diving! As it stands now, my itinerary takes me from the east coast to the west coast to the Gold Coast, the Sunshine Coast, and then into the outback. I don’t have plans after the middle of April so we’ll see which direction the wind blows me.
I’m not sure when I will return home to Canada, but I will take the time I need to explore and rediscover…what? I don’t know…but I have a feeling I may discover a couple of things along the way.
I want to share the journey with you, so I will be blogging my little heart out. The support that I have been given this past year or so cannot easily be repaid; I feel that maybe sharing some of my experiences along the way may be a start to showing my appreciation. I’ll send out another quick email before I go, with a link that you can use to follow me around.
Cheers and many thanks,
